[y]our2040 is a participatory futures initiative held in La Punt Chamues-ch, Switzerland, bringing together practitioners to explore long-term visions and pathways for societal change.
As a Futures Researcher, I designed and developed the Pack of Possibilities, a card deck of global innovations used to support backcasting, strategic dialogue and solution prototyping during the gathering.
Approach
Research
Reviewed and synthesised over 200 reports, articles and case studies to identify globally relevant innovations across technology, policy, and social practice.
Sensemaking
Organised innovations using the STEEP framework and mapped them across three time horizons (Now / New / Next) to support long-term and transitional thinking.
Design
Developed a card deck where each innovation included a short description and a set of provocative questions to stimulate dialogue and encourage cross-pollination of ideas.
Impact
The Pack of Possibilities was used during facilitated backcasting sessions, where participants explored long-term visions, identified intermediate pathways, surfaced near-term actions and commitments. The cards helped participants connect global innovations to local realities and translate future thinking into practical discussions.
